Our newest comic “Mildoo” was released this past Saturday at Genghis Con. We will be posting the whole story on our tumblr, piece by piece. If you’d like to buy a copy of the comic, please paypal $4ppd to setbacksohio@hotmail.com. Here’s the first installment.
This strip is written and drawn by Al, and Nathan did the watercolors (and I think he redid the letters, too). If you are intrigued by Mildoo, good. He will make his full debut at Genghis Con (11/24, 10 am at the Beachland Ballroom). There will be plenty of free pins.
We will have a brand new, full color comic ready for this year’s Genghis Con. This is only two weeks away. We’re gonna have free pins and stuff. We are stoked!!!

Here’s our first published comic! It’s a book review written by William Kistof Harvey Pekar’s “Not the Israel My Parents Promised Me.” Alex did the pencils while watching our grandma’s miniature schnauzer Pepper, and Nathan did the inks during Setbacks’ tour with Ages. Which one is cooler?
We are officially published in the Plain Dealer! We’re on page E5. It’s a comic review of Harvey Pekar’s posthumously published “Not the Israel My Parents Promised Me.” The review is by William Kist, an associate professor at Kent State University. We’ll put the link here as soon as it’s published on the PD website (cleveland.com).
Smooth Brain - “Living Room Cop”
The first issue of this will be finished by the end of August. It’s about a disgruntled man who is kidnapped by colorful children and taken to the mysteriously edible Spaghetti Island. See the boy on the right, in the last panel? The one with the dead eyes? His name is Gubbie.
The art’s all Nathan and Al did the script, but we plan on alternating once we get more into the story. I know the sequencing might seem a little off, but we’re hoping to fix the panels and word bubbles a bit within the next couple weeks!
This was featured in Big Bully Zine #0, a comix zine we started that featured interviews from Title Fight and Tigers Jaw. We started with #0, not #1, just in case we never got around to making another one, and we still haven’t, but we plan on it soon!
Pencils and story by Al, inks and letters by Nathan.
